Upon graduation, ACMT students will need to join an association in order to become a Registered Massage Therapist, access clients’ paramedical benefits and obtain malpractice insurance.
Student and Associate memberships are also available while students are still completing their massage therapy training. Obtaining a preliminary membership keeps students connected and up-to-date with the industry.
Below are some of the the Massage Therapy associations available for Alberta students and graduates:
CMMOTA provides professional association membership to 2200 hour trained Massage Therapists in non-regulated provinces and territories in Canada, to 2200 hr trained Massage Practitioners in Regulated provinces, and Manual Osteopathic Therapists nationwide.
The Massage Therapist Association of Alberta (MTAA) is a member-based organization dedicated to the maintenance and improvement of the profession of Massage Therapy and advocacy of its members locally, provincially and nationally.
Established in 1988, the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC) is the largest holistic health association across Canada. It recognizes over 60 massage and holistic health practices and represents over 6,300 practitioners.
